What is the protocol with defriending someone from Facebook?
I defriended someone because I learned he had a girlfriend while we were supposedly dating. Was this harsh?

Not harsh. Assuming you are both teens, many boys are a little immature about relationships, often taking them much less seriously than the girl. Perhaps he genuinely didn't view you as a serious girlfriend
