How to get push notifications on iPod?

How to get push notifications on iPod?
For MSN and Facebook I get NO push notifications for any messages or other activity. I have deleted the apps and reinstalled and that still didn't work.
All of the push notifications are enabled in settings and they all appear in notification centre.
Does anyone have any idea what to do other than restore my iPod factory settings?

check your volume and check your push to make sure sound and badges and that stuff are on
