Would you rather choose not to have a Facebook account instead of having one?

Would you rather choose not to have a Facebook account instead of having one?
I'm beginning to think this is becoming a disadvantage. People no longer care of having real friends. They focus too much on having a bigger number of friend count instead of knowing each of them for real. People are posting pointless stuff online and the social network is just becoming a place to bring out the worst in almost anybody. Am I the only one who realizes this?
I'm beginning to think it's better for me to get out of this "polluted" social network...

if u doin facebook friends with those whom u never met then how come they will be able to judge u and ur personality.

only make friends with real firends and who knows u.

facebook is become fun for people for their timepass . first people make lot of unknown friends and then they upload funny pics and waiting for other people to comment on those pics.

it all depends on u the way u wanna use it. if u wanna use it in serious way then ur friendslist will not be unncesssarily big.

I hate it. Even people I know very well are becoming too judgmental. I had one, but I'm so glad to get out of it.

I bet you keep getting invites from people you don't know personally. That sucks!

My Facebook account is the ONLY way I can connect to my personal friends (I know it sucks) but anyway I have the same dilemma but I just try to ignore these Annoying Facebook People and hide their posts from my page. What I'm trying to say is you're not the only one (duh), I just know my limitations. I don't add complete strangers, only friends and acquaintances.

I would really love to tell my friends don't post this, don't post that, but of course I can't, I'm not their mother.

No, because that's the only way these days I can collar most the people I know (many of which I hadn't seen since 1995 when they left School / went to other colleges) as they live all over the place.

People on Facebook are real, and talking to them via there is no different to talking to them via the Telephone (only cheaper), and by using text instead of talking......... unless you use the video chat on there now. It also means you can share pictures off your phone or Digital camera with friends within minutes even if they've ended up living as far apart from you as Australia or Thailand....... or some far flung military base, or work on an Oil rig so far out to sea from England that it's almost in Norway.

People who say Facebook friends "aren't real" are no different from the luddites who thought Telephones, Televisions, Cars, Railways & computers would never catch on.

Back when I was in high school, I use to care about having a large number of friends, but since I realize that the majority of my friends were just acquaintances who don't care about my statuses and being "real" with me, I deleted most of them. Now I feel like I don't want my Facebook account anymore, but at the same time, I want to so that I can keep in touch with family members and relatives.
