What information should I not give out on the internet?

Don't give out:
- Your last name
- Date of birth
- Parent's or other relatives names (if you must mention someone, like a sibling, stick with first names ONLY)
- Friend's names
- Your address - don't even give out the city or street you live on; a very large city or the state might be OK
- ANY account numbers or passwords
- Your phone number
- Your social security number
- Bank account or credit card numbers
- Access to your social networking sites (such as Facebook, Twitter, Formspring, etc.)
- Where you go to school or names of places you like to hang out
- What kind of car you or your parents' drive
- Avoid sending pictures of yourself, friends, family, house, school, or other identifiable locations
- Basically, don't give out any information that could clue him in as to your identity or your location; if you mention you went to the movies, don't mention the name of the theater; if you tell him you went to the mall, don't mention the name of the mall, and so on. Don't mention any information that could reveal identities of friends or family either; you want to keep them safe as well.

****I've actually come across people who have programs that tell them the IP address of the person they're chatting with online via AIM, Yahoo, or other online chat service. This is actually relatively easy to do; so if someone is determined to know your location, they can sometimes trace your IP address to determine your city and state, and possibly even your physical home address. If I'm chatting with anyone I don't know, I actually like to use a proxy or use a program like "Hide My IP" which disguises/changes my IP address to a completely random one. However, you do have to pay for a program like "Hide My IP", and chances are, this guy isn't tracing your IP; it's probably something you don't need to worry about, just something you might want to be aware of for the future though.
