Christians as well as gays familiar with the Bible: Can someone explain this and unravel it?

Most elements and traditions within religions evolve and change in context of society (like marrying only a virgin, playing with pig skin). Those traditions held some value for people living in that time. For some reason homosexuality hasn't evolved into acceptance, tolerance, and normality as quickly as those other examples provided in your image. Of course there's nothing wrong with homosexuality, it just seems to be a pointless taboo that hasn't been accepted in full yet. Maybe some think that they'll try to somehow 'convert' you into a homosexual which of course is complete bogus.

The same way people used bible verses to fight against interracial marriage being legalized.

The same way people used bible verses to fight against equal rights for women.

Basically, it's just ignorant/hateful people cherry-picking bible verses to justify their own hatefulness.

and, just like others have already said: Leviticus, the verse people use to put down homosexuality the most, also mentions that things like eating shellfish, wearing jewelry, and shaving are just as sinful.

Sodom and Gomorrah is about rape and Corinthians has a controversial translation, so really, it's mostly Leviticus and, again, most christians ignore the other stuff.

I could find WAY more verses about how women are supposed to be submissive to their husbands and non-believers are supposed to be executed.

People care more about the pleasure of this life than what God wants.

We are living in the last days and it is obvious; that is why they have this perspective.
