How can I get more followers on twitter?

So i want more followers because i'm going to start putting videos on my youtube channel. That way i can tell my followers and they can all subscribe to me! I have 12 followers so far and I want to have a lot more.

Tips/How I got to 1,000-2,000^ followers

1. tweet interesting things

2. sometimes, it's helpful to use hashtags (#) when you tweet . I've tweeted '#americanidol' and '#HumanoidCityTour', and if i got lucky, i gained a few American Idol fans/followers or a few Tokio Hotel (a band) fans/followers. People are actually interested in that, so make sure you use what you know you can on the Trending Topics list Also follow people that you have common interests in, find people like that. For me, one of my favorite bands is Paramore, so i went and found lots of Paramore fans who follow back and tweet often. You could also go to the person's/band's followers page and follow ppl from the list.

3. bio --- have a cool bio, maybe list a favorite band or something. Some people actually take the time and search in ppl's bios for common interests. and they do that with tweets too.

4. Follow like maybe 10 or more people a day, but make sure you follow: people who tweet often and follow back! as simple as that... ppl even tweet '#teamfollowback'. My rule is that if I follow someone and they dont follow back within the next 2 or 3 days, i'll unfollow them (you can also give them a chance to follow you by asking them to, and if they ignore, unfollow). I make a little exception if the person hasn't tweeted for a couple days.

5. #FF (#FollowFriday) mentions and Shoutouts --- if you dont already, tweet shoutouts and Follow Friday mentions to people that you think are cool/ people that you think others should follow, and if you get some shoutouts returned in favor, take advantage of that, and follow number 4. And ask your followers/friends to give you shoutouts, if you want. This all could help get you more followers.

6. Make sure you still try to connect/tweet to lots of your followers!

7. AVOID using Twitter tools claiming to get you "thousands of followers" and whatnot. That doesn't work! If they send an auto-tweet about gaining hundreds of followers, you should get rid of it!! Those things only get you old dudes/ legal / dried up / grey-haired / online marketers followers and stuff.. If you're like me, you find those people boring, creepy, and of course not what you're looking for in a twitter follower/friend. Also, block 'online marketers' and spammers.

8. Try not to 'scream' all of your tweets. (i mean tweeting in ALL CAPS). ppl find that annoying and may unfollow you for that, as well as spamming.

9. It takes some time to get to your goal amount of followers, but anything is possible and you must have patience!

10. If you follow me, go to my followers or following list if you want and follow some people, you should get more followers by the next day. Also, i have 20 lists and you can follow any you're interested in (for instance, if you're a Paramore fan, you could follow my 'iheartparamore' list and i'd list you on their and you could follow ppl and ppl can follow you, and you could just gain followers like that

11. Unfollowing sites/tools I use to cut down my following count (especially when i have unfollowers):

~ http://www.Buzzom.com << Buzzom's 'TwitIn' tool lets you 'flush', or unfollow, people you follow that aren't following you back on the list. (buzzom.com/twitin.aspx) . i use this one the most.

~ http://www.Tweepi.com << Tweepi also has it's 'Flush' (unfollow) tool, which does the same as TwitIn's flush and lets you select from the list of people who you're following but aren't following you, and let's you unfollow them.

~ http://www.Twunfollow.com << Just lets you see who's followed and unfollowed you recently. They have also recently installed an 'unfollow' button by the name of the person who unfollowed you, So you can unfollow them right on their site.

Those are the top sites i use and they're all for manual unfollowing

i think ~ http://www.TwitFresh.com unfollows for you, though..

~http://www.JustUnfollow.com can also list the people who dont follow you, and they have an unfollow button by the names too.

12. Invite people you actually know, to Twitter. Get lots of your friends and people you know to follow you.

13. Spread the word, on all your social networking sites about your Twitter. (of course, this is all optional, though). You can even spread word about it on a forum or chatroom. I'm a Varsity Fanclub fan, and sometimes when they broadcast live on Justin.tv, i watch them while i'm in their chat room (Justin.tv offers a chat while someone is broadcasting live) and in that chat, lots of ppl are always like "i want some new VFC (Varsity Fanclub) fans on Twitter, follow me please?" <<something like that.. then everyone would start posting their Twitter links and i'd follow some. If you're on a forum and they let you post and share links, tell the ppl youre cool with on there about your Twitter and invite them to follow you. If you have a blog, you could use that to spread the word about your Twitter too!
