Also, be sure there are no friends on facebook that he should tell before they read it on facebook.

My cousins started posting about my grandmother's death last year before one of us was called....nice way to find out.......

I would not do that! Last month my now fiance explained that he was getting an engagement ring and that I could start planning. Well, I got so excited that I put it on facebook. His brother and sister in law called to congratulate him and he got seriously mad at me. Apparently he wanted people to know after he got the ring even though we have been together 7 years and he never told me it was a secret. We are engaged now and all is well, but it would have saved a huge argument had I kept my big mouth shut (even though he knows I cannot keep a secret like that!) Your brother will reveal in due time but for now I would let him tell when he decides to.
