Can teachers really lose their jobs if they add you facebook?
I read that on an answer to this one question and I wanted to know if it was true? I have several teachers who I have as friends on facebook and they have tons of my friends, their students, added too.

No, the teachers that got fired for being on facebook got fired because they were PRETENDING to be students from school to spy on other students.
As long as the teachers are on FB as themselves, they cannot get fired.

I think it depends on the school district, but I don't really think it's true for most schools.

It actually depends on the rules of your district but generally the teachers that are getting fired are the ones posting inappropriate pics or messages/themes. So unless your teacher is posting anything that wouldnt be rightfully shown or adressed at school then it should be fine.

I honestly am not really sure.
It's touchy....
On the one hand, like another answer said, it can help you if you've got a problem that you can't really tell your teacher about in class, you can just IM them or something on Facebook.

On the other hand, it can open up a world of controversy with un-monitored student/teacher contact.

I've got a few of my old teachers on Facebook and a few of my instructors from the college I spent my first year at.

Just be really careful of what you post and what you talk about!!
