Do you think that a mature, responsible 11 year old, with mainly 13 and 14 year old friends could get facebook, but not put pictures of herself? She really wants it, and I think it could be ok because almost all of her friends are 13-14 and have facebook. Her friends that are 11 and 12 all faked their age with their parents permission. Ads |

no, and if you are paranoid about her meeting people she does not know then tell her to add people she does and plus you need various personal things to add people or get added.

I waited till i was 14 for the sole fact that i really didn't care about it. My little 11 year old sister has a facebook and she is responsible and sets all of her information to private. Facebook is a very safe site and is easy to use, you dont have to input all of the information that it asks. So a responsible 11 year old can get one.

Well, I don't see any harm in facebook. This is the age of technology, so virtually everyone has an email and facebook too. But i still heard around that it maybe dangerous for naive underage girl and boy to be victim of cyber bullying. So consider a bit when allowing your kid to facebook. There will come a time even you don't want, the kid will just learn to facebook themself. So maybe you can be apart of the kid world by facebook with them? Just a suggestion.

Heh, well, I didn't even know about facebook and myspace when I was thirteen. I made an account when I was 15, and it's a good thing I didn't make one when i was 13 cause I would have been really immature lol, I actually should have waited longer when I was 15, But yea depends on how you use it, I have a 12 year old cousin that's quite mature for her age and she uses it well.

Facebook is *not* safe, and your information is *not* private.
Even if you think you set everything to "private"... that does *not* work, there are tons of security holes. And they sell everything to marketing companies anyway. |
