So I'm seeing on facebook that girls are putting the name of a color, so I investigated to find out what this is about. Then when I heard that it's to benefit breast cancer research, I just had to ask, how does this benefit breast cancer research?
History has shown that raising awareness for breast cancer, or anything else for that matter is like blowing up a balloon with a hole in it. Sure it would work, but quickly deflate. Ads |

It's just to 'raise awareness'. Like we're not bombarded by it 24/7 already, good grief.

it is not to benefit breast cancer research it is to help raise awareness about breast cancer. It does this by resulting in more people talking about the subject. Increasing the likelihood of women talking about things like the importance of early detection through regular self exams.

I'm with trudred on this one...I don't think telling the colour of one's bra is is for any other reason than to get people talking about it. If something as simple as sharing my bra colour leads to even one woman thinking about it enough to do a breast self-exam and then she finds something she might not have otherwise, then it's all been worth it.
Come to think of it, we should be doing this on Y!A as well...why not??? |

I didn't get the color thing until I was told about it. Not much awareness there. Want to raise awareness? Get men to wear a bra for a day.
