macbook sound help, not working?

i was watching a youtube video, i wasn't downloading anything.. and suddenly my computer got extremely slow, it is usally super fast, so i restarted it... and when i turned it on my youtube sound stopped working, so i tried skype notification sound and it worked... so i tried an online game, no sound. minecraft, no sound. itunes, nothing. other video site, nothing. i don't know what could have happened, any help? i tried freeing memory, turning up volume :l opening quicktime, restarting browser
i have macbook pro snow leopard (os x 10.6.8).
