Is it bad to have facebook ?

I don't think its bad. I'm a grandmother, my grandson is 13. I have Facebook myself, and enjoy hearing about things my friends do, and seeing pictures they take, but as a parent, I worry about a few things: 1) getting too addicted to it - do you really have to know everything your friends do every minute, know when they say things to someone else, and so on. 2) the idea of the word "friend" being applied to any person who connects with you. You should know who your real friends are. 3) posting personal information that can track back to you. Doesn't matter who you "friend," bad guys can hack Facebook pages. People your parents' age and older think that younger people are too involved in knowing everything about everyone - where they go, what they do, what they think, - twitter every thought, text every few minutes, post everything they do on Facebook or MySpace, use it to say nasty things about others... and its hard for parents to keep track of what you are doing, and they need to know in order to properly guide you and keep you safe. There really is a reason for privacy. Some things have to stay personal, and you should do things without checking every action and thought with your friends. So perhaps you and your parents could share a Facebook account for a while, and they can see what goes on, then they'd feel better.
