Why are Muslim people killing Christians?

In Nigeria and other Muslim dorminated countries, Christians are bring persecuted, murdered and bombed. We have seen this on the news. A Muslim group called Boko Haram has been going about killing several, Innocent Christian people (women and children included) since last Christmas. Why is that so, what is your religion based on?
