He's being a jackass in front of his friends to impress them and show that he's got you on a leash. Screw that. Tell him how belittling it is and how much it hurts you. If he continues to do it, dump him in front of his friends.

Sounds like he his being macho. I would just try and ignore it and not take it to heart. If you feel as thought your really offended by it then express this to your partner.
