Does the Republican party represent conservative values?

Well, (Reagan Pause) you know the Democrats aren't the party of fiscal control. We can evidence the 200 years as a nation for that. Who votes for all the tax hikes all the time, yep Democrats.

Who votes for all the regulations, all the time, yep Democrats.

Who votes for all the welfare programs and gifts of the state to people who never earned it. Yep, Democrats.

Bill Clinton only attempted a Balance Budget because the GOP filled the seats and he needed to get his liberal programs through by playing ball.

Newt got 95% of the Contract with America (A Conservative based Document) passed under Clinton with objections from Democrats all along the way.

Democrats are about spending, regulating and taxing.

Yer confusion today is with some in the leadership in the GOP is. Playing ball to get things done. Well, that ain't the whole party so keep your broad brush in your painter's box and lets explore the real Conservatives of the GOP.

From all accounts, many members are Conservatives but like any good national party there are what anyone could term as abnormals. Why even John McCain had an 86% Conservative rating by the ACU (American Conservative Union) while Obama had a 13%. Yet Obama sounded like a Conservative when he recently visited Red states looking for votes.

Many GOP members would be Libertarians if they could ever win elections, but today the reality is the perception of a mighty name and that is Republican. Sure, many are not happy with the leadership in the minority Republican Congress and a new alignment could be in the offering next election cycle.

So, you see perception is everything in Politics and you seem to see something that isn't normal when it is.

Take a trip through history and the Conservatives have always held a special place in the GOP, much greater than that of the Democrat party, fer sure.
