What is a website that NEEDS to be made?
Im taking a poll to see what people would want in a new website?
Perhaps a new social networking website? Or maybe a new search engine besides google(which i doubt i could ever beat), maybe a new dating service or a site just for men or women? ANY IDEAS WELCOME? Thank you.

No new website needs to be made. There are already way too many of them.

If you want to make a new website, do so because you want to do it, not because of other people.

Hi There,
You would need to come up with new ideas. There are many website on WWW which already have implemented the ideas you want to implement. They have advantage over you which is called "first mover advantage". You can not win until you don't come up with something unique and different.
Regards,
Umair

Lets see................

Social Networking website.......... there's already at least 17 well known ones + 1 I've made myself out there: http://www.alltheinterweb.co.uk/yald2/di...viewcat=59 + many other lesser known ones made with turnkey scripts such as "Boonex Dolphin" or "SocialEngine".... there was friendster, but last time i looked they'd given up trying to be a social networking site like MySpace and become a gaming site instead.

Search Engine........ done it, and too many others out there:

Dating site.......... done it, and there's seriously too many out there to compete against (or even find a decent domain name that's not already taken or too close to one that's already taken). And you just end-up spending most your time deleting sign-ups from lovesick African scammers from Ghana & Nigeria.

This is a site I was directed to by the business advisor bloke when doing the business plan for mine: http://www.datingsitesreviews.com/

Rival to Yahoo Answers... done it (having a hell of a job promoting it)...
http://www.alltheinterwebanswers.com/

Alternative to Wikipedia... done that too
http://wiki.alltheinterwebanswers.com/in...=Main_Page

Ebay already has the online auctions market tied up.... only other one I knew was "QXL"(?), and that'd packed it in last time i checked a couple of years ago........ pretty much same with Classified adverts websites (Craigslist, etc).......

Football (soccer) messageboard's market is all tied up (all mine seems to attract is idiot spammers), and no one seems to be signing up for any other types of messageboard forums any more 'cos there's already loads of them + everyone seems to be using Facebook Groups / Like pages instead.

Suppose there could be an opening for an online photo albums thing similar to how Yahoo's photo albums used to be before they bought FLICKR and ditched their own albums.... provide some decent competition to Photobucket again..... except most people these days just whack their pictures up to Facebook or TwitPic or Photobucket or FLICKR or MySpace (the few who still use it) or PICASA, etc.
.... Or maybe fill the gap left behind when Yahoo killed off free hosting from Geocities.... was thinking of trying it myself, but can't be arsed.

Not only has everything been done over and over again, do you really think, if someone had THE idea, they would post it here?

If they did, they would be stupid. Because then there would be a gazillion websites built with THE idea, thus ending the existence of said idea.
