question about twitter?

Now, call me stupid, but what does #nowblasting on twitter mean? isn't it just what someone's listening to?

"Hashtags" or "#" represent trends, or themes/categories for posts.

If you add in "#something" to a post, then it adds it to that overall category. I could then later go and do a search for all posts in the #whatever category and see them all.

For example, "#JustinBeiber is such a tool" would go into the #JustinBeiber category.
