Maybe conservatives lost because people are sick of their Christian conservative social values?

I know that the official line from the Republican party now is that Obama won because people want free stuff. And I'm sure there is some of that. But I think a bigger issue is that people are sick of the Christian right trying to embed their religion into the law with things like gay marriage and banning pornography and all the other crap they try to shove on people. They act like they are such moral people, meanwhile... there isn't a single war the United States ever started that they don't support.

Maybe people are just sick of that crap?

Personally I love the free market and capitalism. I'd love to have a party that supported those ideas and dropped the conservative social values.

BTW, I have nothing against Christian values. I just don't think the federal government should push them on people.
@Joseph B: You are entitled to your views. Go live your life according to them. Don't get the government to enforce those on others. (Also, I'm not a liberal.)
@Me Ne Frego: It isn't that bad so far. But there are a few things. If you were gay you couldn't get married. If they had their way if your wife was raped you couldn't get a legal abortion. They are attempting other restrictions. If they just dropped that line they'd be in the executive office right now.

Hob. Sometimes people misunderstand something, and they want to say things that they don't understand. If you are truly a Christian then the Bible is your source of Values, and it does Condemn Homosexuals. And also Pornography is against their Biblical Values. If you don't like Christans just say so! Would you talk that way about Muslims? Or you trying to prove to your Liberal friends how bold you are? Either way it makes no sense condemning some people if you have you own opinion they can have theirs also. So what the Heck make you better?

No one in this election (for instance) on the republican side even brought up abortion.. nor contraception.. The issue originally was Catholic institutions not wanting to be forced to provide abortion causing drugs, i.e. over riding "freedom of religion" and "conscience".. but this was spun as a "war on women". Most christians and republicans, since the 80's are not into legislating behavior choices.
- Shoved down throat? perhaps you are referring to how education has an enforced belief taught exclusively? an unproven hypothesis full of countless gaps and holes? Or perhaps it is all the movies, music, etc, that adheres strictly to all decency standards and laws? After all when the pornography war was won, one of the claims was no one would have to view indecency unless they chose to. Perhaps it's all those movies the right can watch with their children? I'd also like to point out that Roe v Wade was a usurping of "state's rights". And if most folks knew the procedures involved, they wouldn't be able to sleep at night (at least I would hope that would be the case).
