How established is your site? Is it getting any traffic from search engines? It is really important once your site is complete to get it submitted to search engines. You can do this manually or use a professional company that will do it all for you.

Once you've done this you should concentrate on building links to your site. Find some relevant forums or blogs that allow your URL in a signature and make some relevant comments. If you make some good posts, you will gain reputation and people will start visiting your site.
