I'm a liberal but I agree that attacking 2nd amendment is wrong.
Tell reality of situation and expose the junk and bias. some news are reporting that the guy had at least 1000 rounds as in holy shit that's a lot, but really ammo is cheap and often sold in bulk.
Also this guy was insane and this is am absolute horrible way to put it but with 300 million americans there's bound to be some nutjob that snaps and owns a gun

use facts to make our case instead of the usual sensationalism of the anti-gun crowd, shoot safely and legally, introduce new people to firearm ownership, vote in every election, etc...

* You must send Your E-Mails and Personal letters to President Obama, your State Representative, and to your Senators.* You must send a clear message to our lawmakers in Washington and in your State that you will not compromise on your Right To Keep and Bear Arms.* You need to remind Washington that there is no flexibility when it comes to the restriction of our Constitutional Right to own a weapon.*... " Constitutional, Right, and Legal is not what any POTUS, SCOTUS, United Nations, Congress, Federal, State, County, or Local Government says it is; its what the U. S. Constitution says it is."...When a Social System becomes so corrupted that its only prerogative is its own survival and self perpetuation, even at the cost of the Life, Freedom, and Liberty of the people it was originally tasked to Protect, Defend, and Serve, the populace has no choice to but question whether that system should be allowed to continue any longer.* Conflict is unavoidable.*... The result would be citizen dissent, peaceful or militant.*... " Keep Freedom and Liberty Alive; Resist Tyranny."...

Go to the polls and vote these ultra liberal left wing idiots out of office. Then put some real teeth in the laws that these nut jobs break. Maybe public executions would help deter these fools from acting out.

A composite of the previous answers is great. Write your legislators in both the senate and the house, especially if they are anti-gun. Let them know they have constituents that feel strongly about it, and their opinion on the matter influences your vote. A good issue now would be the UN Arms Treaty. If issues come at the local level, or you disagree with a state law, don't hesitate to write your state legislators or attend local council meetings. Remember, most laws concerning transport and carrying of firearms are state laws, not national. Promote pro-gun candidates anyway you can, whether it be a sign in your yard, making calls, tossing them a few bucks, etc.

Educate others about firearms. Guns are not evil, they are inanimate objects, it's the person who is holding the gun that ultimately decides how to use, or if to use, the firearm. This can be done through a local NRA chapter, an Isaac Walton League, hunting organizations such as Pheasants Forever, etc. If you can contribute to those organizations, do so. These organizations do more to promote gun education, safety, and protect hunting land than anyone else.

Don't get sucked into pointless arguments. Some anti-gun folks, and for that matter people on one side of any argument, aren't looking for an open minded argument and are just looking for someone to speak down to. Along these lines, don't be one of those people. "Stay classy San Diego" is good advice. Post on Facebook groups or on twitter.

If you carry concealed, keep it concealed! You won't look cool if you let it show, you'll just take people out of their comfort zone and push them towards an anti-gun stance by doing so. I think in an appropriate environment wearing an appropriate pro-gun shirt is OK. However, if you wear something that is snarky or insulting that promotes guns, you're hurting your cause, true of anything. Done correctly you can get people thinking along the lines you went them to be so they can reach their own conclusions. Be respectful and mindful that others have a right to their own opinion and free speech, even if they are wrong ;-)

Finally, be safe, encourage safety and educate yourself, not just others. The less negative press guns get, the less negative public sentiment there will be. Know what you are talking about with verifiable facts. In the past decade, anti-gun sentiment has actually gone down. This is one of the reasons you haven't heard Gov. Hickenlooper (D-CO) or the President use Aurora to promote gun control. Most people realize garbage when they see it. A lot of people here in Colorado, myself included, were sickened when Mayor Bloomberg and Piers Morgan attacked guns before they had even pulled the bodies out of the theater. They unknowingly hurt their cause more than they helped it - and it works both ways.

Happy shooting!

I agree with michael, i think liberals are starting to realize how innacurate their argumrnts for gun control are and are starting to see reality. Now while i cant say obama will focus on gun control if he wins a second term, the senate and house was primarily blue for a lil while in the beginning of his presidency and if he didnt impose another FAWB or other gun control methods when he could get it passed, i doubt hed do that again.. but then again, everyone knows how politics works nowadays, relection is more important than what u belive. However, i think we can all safely say the U.S. citizens would probably revolt in the event of a total gun ban and seizure. Be sure to vote though!
