What do you think of Obama wanting us to write the White House regarding our taxes going up 2,200 in 2013?

When a president has an idea, or he wants something, and he thinks it could be popular, but he's blocked by Congress, he takes the argument directly to The People. EVERY president does this.

Basically Obama is saying: "Do you really want YOUR taxes to go up by $2000 or $3000 or $4000 so that people who make more than $250k/yr can get a big tax break?" And the thing is, apparently many Americans do want this! But I think most don't.

The way the White House website puts it is a little biased (understandably). But it comes down to :"Do you want to pay more so the rich can pay less?"

Obama is a Hypocrite and Liar.

He is spoon feeding the public only 2% of the information.

These poor souls are being cruelly mis-led. He is a Sick, Ruthless, wannabee Dictator.

I'm glad you approve of this effort---it is nice to have the public involved and active on the political issues that affect us all.

I want to tell the story of my 17-year-old granddaughter's former stepmom trying to single-parent so that my grandbaby can attend a public high school with a strong gifted program. The two live in a very old trailer (paid for, but with a lot fee and utility costs) that has had its hot water heater go out (I helped with that two months ago) and now the heating vents are not working and need to be replaced so that they can have heat. The former stepmom works at Scholastic books (the one that schools use for reading lists or book boys) in their warehouse, but has summers off (same as do teachers) and so has no income for those summer months. My grandbaby's dad is incarcerated and her mom (my daughter) died a wrongful death in Massachusetts in 2002, so Taylore is basically on her own except for me and her stepmom, but she does not drive and lives more than nine miles from the nearest semblance of a store (a filling station). The salary that Linda makes at Scholastic Books is decent---around $14 an hour for full-time work, with a retirement plan and decent health care coverage, but the two barely scrape by most months even when I am able to help. Linda has a pacemaker, so this past summer during the heat wave and drought in the midwest when they could not afford to pay the electric bill for the A/C she needs and a shut-off date was threatened, I paid it---but that meant letting go of repairs for my fire-damaged rural home that has no kitchen, no bathroom door or walls on one end, and no electricity in three of the seven rooms. I'm a tough old gal--a disabled military veteran who can pretty much handle whatever life dishes out, but I want my granddaughter and her stepmom to struggle less just to make ends meet.

The $2000 for my granddaughter and her stepmom would be used to make repairs, to buy food, to pay for utilities.
