Amd comparable to Intel?
my past 2 computers, and any family computers have had an intel proccesor (dual core on my last, CORE i5 on my current) I always have bought laptops basing on specs but my 1 year old lenovo g570 ($500ish) had great specs but a huge design error (aka my screen is about to fall off because the hing broke and tore up the plastic under the laptop) anyway AMD seams generally cheaper but is it alot worse? Im not a computer snob, i use docs, email, netflix, facebook, etc. nothing fancy. But is there a noticeable change between them or does intel just have a better rep? any insight would be great! or computer suggestions (im in highschool and i am saving for a car so the less extravagant the better) are also appreciated

It comes and goes. AMD are often better value for money, and sometimes they had better floating-point performance so the big data crunchers were buying them.

Check the mobo reviews, or if you have specific requirements, run some benchmarks yourself with your typical workload.

When it really comes down to it, AMD and Intel both make processors that work just fine. If you're looking at getting a laptop, Intel tends to have better power saving features. On the other hand, if you're going for a desktop computer, AMD tend to be (lots) cheaper and frequently have more grunt.

For what it's worth, you might want to check with Lenovo to see if your laptop is still covered by warranty.

amd has better graphics and both work for what 97 percent or more of people need to use it for. so get an amd.they are cheaper and in many ways better than intel(such as newer AMD processors use less energy and produce less heat stress.using less energy allows for longer battery life). Intel just gets a better rep among many people because AMD doesnt advertise like intel. and for your uses anything will work. i prefer AMD myself and here is a good one on sale from Sears. It is a 14 inch for 249.if you want a bigger screen, contact me at jdbj32m@yahoo.com and I can help you find a laptop with a bigger screen.

AMD and Intel are like 2 horses racing nose to nose at the finish line.
Can't really say one is better than the other.
Both are competing to be #1 when they both are.

Myself I prefer AMD

Intel was the first to build CPU's .

Gamers are always interested in buying the newest release in CPUs and they
look at both of these companies to see which one will succeed in releasing it first.

Bottom line is I really don't think there is much difference as which one you choose.
unless the CPU is known to be better at the other side with the same specs
