Maybe there is a simple explanation...his friend could be interested in a girl and was using your bf's phone to show him what she looked like. guys are going to talk and look at other girls regardless if they have a gf or not. It doesn't mean he cares about you any less, he's just being a normal guy that likes to look at attractive girls. If it's something that you cant let go, just bring it up casually and keep your cool when you talk to him. I really think if he had anything to hide he wouldn't give you his phone to play with.
