How come some people waste there time with texting every minute of every day and twittering?

Twittering is kind of dumb, but I don't see what's the big deal about texting...we're all going to become mute, overweight beings in hoverchairs with screens in front of us 24/7 anyway..similar to Wall-E. It's pretty much a fact, accept it. =)

Edit: Though I do agree with Swan, it drives me nuts when people are lazy and use shorthand...no one knows their grammar anymore.
