My personal opinions of FB & Twitter & Y!A is personal, its my decision!
Of course JW's are concerned with who we talk to, especially on a regular basis, but nothing is in print about NOT using these websites, the organization does caution us to use discretion, reasonableness & to especially monitor our kids, because they're more impressionable & vulnerable. No, we don't know who we're actually talking to on here, but I can say we get to know about the person asking & answering questions on Y!A. I've been on here for years & there are a handful of well known JW-haters, they all seem to stick together, though, so they stick out like sore thumbs & are easy to spot. Plus we can block whomever we want, which helps. I block all the vicious ones so they leave me alone, though vicious people do spring up now & then, but they're easy to avoid. Its just sad that many pose as JW's & give misleading answers about us. But that's beside the point, the main thing is honest hearted people ask some really good questions about JW's & about the Bible, or God, or Jesus, etc., & MANY JW's are on here answering them. The world uses the internet, as does the JW's, but we all have to make our own personal decisions about which sites we use. The JW's org' only offers help in making those decisions along with the Bible's principles. One thing in print from the JW's is this magazine article from February 2012: "What Should You Know About Social Networking?" You can look through it online on JW's official website: http://www.jw.org Look thru the article subheadings: http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102012040 Your question is a bit jumbled, too, I'm not sure about a lot of what you said, but it doesn't sound very accurate to me, "someone told you it was wrong to be on this site" ; "Where in the KM does it say...." ; "a group of elders teaching the pioneer school in Alaska." Yeah, I'm thinking you're a poser! But just in case you're not, please read what JW's actually DO say about social networking sites on the links we gave you & not base your opinions on hearsay & what others who actually know nothing about JW's say, or from individuals even, even JW's as myself KNOWS this is a personal decision that we make for ourselves based on our Bible principles. Some may feel they shouldn't use this site or FB or Twitter, others do. Not anyone's business really! Its not a written rule, despite what you may (or may not have) been told. |
