have you considered going to a church close to home. you may already have a religious affiliation. if you do, try to find out what they may have available. if you don't have a religious background, perhaps you might inquire at a local parish about their youth group. i think that you would be welcomed even if you are not a member.
there may also be opportunities to do some volunteer work in your area. if you don't have to depend on being driven to a location and picked up, then your parents would not have to incur an unwanted commitment. from my own experience growing up, i always enjoyed doing volunteer work. it does not matter what type you do, you will meet people and it can help to round out your life a bit. i also belonged to a church youth group and made friends with people that lasted into my adult life. i hope that i may have helped a little or maybe given you some ideas of your own to try.
