If you chemically straighten you hair, will it ever be curly again?
My hair is extremely curly and vvveerrryyy thick, i love to straighten it and i wish i could do it everyday, but i don't have the time, it takes 30 minutes to do it quickly, but about an hour or two to make it actually straight, i was looking into chemically straightening my hair, but nothing i found answered my question, i would like to know of something that would keep my hair straight for more than a few hours, it always curls back up when i'm out of the shower and don't think it's worth it to spend my time straightening it and then take a shower a few hours later and ruin it! My hair tends to frizz and get tangled super easily, it's a lot easier having to straighten it and not worry about frizz or tangles, any suggestions?

if you get a relaxer it will not be straight again the only thing that will be curly is your roots when it grows out. but with chemicals come breakage and damage if you dont know how to take care of it......keep it natural

Chemical straighteners only straighten the hair you have after it grows out the new growth will be curly. Also no straightener will make it completely straight. You will still have to use a flat iron to smooth it out. Depending in the shape of your hair and coarseness you may want to look into a relaxer. They can be harsh and damaging tho so only if your hair can take it.

Okay so I have also been wanting to do this simply because even though I love my curly hair it will look bad after a while. I had a friend when i was younger she was 15 I was 17. And she got it done. Her hair was that really beautiful curly type and after the whole straight effect happened it wasn't the same. It was curly but it wasn't as pretty as before. This is probably the biggest reason why I haven't gotten it done because I'm scared for my curls lol. Anyways I guess if you really want it done go ahead.

Answer mine please =)

Yes, but . . . . heat & chemicals are hair's worst enemies, it is a trillion dollar business and they do not give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss and in this case cancer, since relaxers contain formaldehyde causing cancer.

Set your hair the night before, in plastic curlers, make the time, to have beautiful hair it takes a lot of dedications & PATIENCE. Been there! Still there, except no more chemicals for me! Do you know how long actors & models remained seated while getting their hairs done, before a photo shoot? Or during a photo shoot? They have hairstylists doing their hair every second, during TAKES, while working 8hrs.

Wear a scarf or a hat, then style your hair when you get to school. That's why someone invented hoodies, or beanie caps. Finger comb, spray with water, scrunch and you're good to go!

Hair straighteners are known as hair relaxers, keratin treatments and hair-smoothing products. They work by breaking and reforming the chemical bonds in keratin, which is the main protein that gives shape to each hair.

> > > > BRAZILIAN BLOWOUT HAD BEEN BANNED by the Food & Drug Adm. Sept. 12, 2011.

Google: keratin treatment warnings. About 2,620,000 results (0.36 seconds) 6-24-12.
1-23-12. and Google: Lawsuits Brazilian Blowouts. About 1,010,000 results (0.24 seconds)
In Sept. the federal government put out a hazard alert about the hair-smoothing treatment, Brazilian Blowout etc. warning that it contains liquid formaldehyde that can turn into formaldehyde gas when heated during a treatment. Now, the company's bottles of solution carry a warning label to alert stylists to the potential formaldehyde risk and the need to perform the treatment in a well-ventilated area. The manufacturer said Monday (3-6-12) that it had agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit for about $4.5 million.

Hair-straightening products are allowed to contain small concentrations of formaldehyde (0.2 percent). But several hair-straightening solutions have been found to contain well above the allowable limit. For example, one popular hair-straightening product that advertised itself as “formaldehyde-free” actually contained 6.8 percent to 11.8 percent formaldehyde.
Another example: Fourteen women, including two from North Texas and one from Houston, are suing Unilever, the maker of a product they claim caused permanent damage to their hair.
"It transforms frizzy, unmanageable hair into hair that's sleeker and easier to style," said the commercial for the Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion 30-Day Smoothing Kit, which is no longer being sold
When she began looking online for more information about the product, she said she found some people who said it worked, but more who said it damaged their hair.
She discovered a Facebook page devoted to angry consumers, and there are multiple postings on YouTube. I've been warning people about relaxers since 2009 and people are giving me thumbs down!
BTW: A variety of hair-straightening products used in professional salons can expose both hairdressers and their customers to formaldehyde. The results show that three professional hair-smoothing treatments labeled "formaldehyde free" can produce the cancer-causing chemical at concentrations above the occupational exposure limits set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. They tested four products: Coppola Keratin Complex Blonde Formula, Global Keratin Juvexin Optimized Functional Keratin, La Brasiliana Escluso Keratin Treatment with Collagen, and Brazilian Blowout Acai Professional Smoothing Solution. While ChemRisk tested four popular brands of hair straighteners, THERE ARE HUNDREDS on the market. Nov. 11-11

By contrast, beauty salon owners and stylists generally lack a scientific background and don't have a keen awareness of the danger of working with products that contain formaldehyde, experts say.

Chemicals can enter the body through the skin.

Curly hair is flat like a ribbon while straight is round thread like.
Yes, your hair will recurl, as it grows, AFTER you STOP straightening @ about 1/2" /month.
EMBRACE YOUR CURLS and be happy, watch all those celeb shows, those straights ,when wanting to stand out, they go curly. ASK any curly haired person you meet who does their hair, they'll tell you, it took a long time to find a good one.
I wash my hair and towel dry UNTIL it stops dripping down my neck then air dry it.

If you do Keratin treatment ,not only will straingthen your hair for about 3 months (if you have dyed your hair)or 2 months (if your hair is natural)but it will make it softer..I don't really think that there is a product that lasts forever!
