What gun control plan would actually work?

The guy didn't own the guns he used, so what are you going to do, take guns away from ppl who have crazy family members? Might as well ban them then, then we can be like China where kids bring knives to school and kill each other every couple weeks or so.

You want to know why people are killing each other like this, but you wouldn't accept the real answer if it hit you square in the head. Nonetheless, I will clue you in on this: every 6 months, every single thing we know about everything now doubles.

We are simply becoming too smart for our own good.

I agree with you. GUN LAWS WILL NOT STOP THESE HORRORS.

Connecticut is among the most gun regulated States. Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles are stricter and these three cities are where bad gun things happen the most.

Reacting on the rights of 100 million lawful gun owners will not solve this type of horror. George H.W. Bush (41) had it right when he said nuts will find away to be nuts, the guns are just one way. (he said this after a guy killed a bunch of preschool kids in late 80's shortly after Reagan + Brady were shot and Brady bill was strong).

I am sorry to be the first to say this, but the two people responsible for this are dead. The man, who did this, AND his mother WHO apparently WAS the gun owner), ARE WHERE THE FAULT ENDS.
There is a law in Connecticut, D.J. Kennedy Law, that places the mother responsible for the safe locked storage of her property.

THIS IS A SAD HORRIFIC ACT AND OF THE TYPE THAT IS INDEFENSIBLE AND NO LAW WILL STOP IT.

Ban ammunition.
Gun control doesn't work but making ammo illegal would.

You realize of course that when both the Newtown and Portland shooters were engaged by someone that was armed, they both shot themselves. In either case, if a CCW holder had engaged, the outcome at least in Newtown would certainly have been better -- it could not have gotten any worse.

In Aurora, Newtown and Portland as well as a host of other mass shootings, the murderers chose an area where they had high confidence there would be no armed resistance as these were gun free zones.

You have to take each situation on its own to determine how they could have been stopped.
Newtown: LOCK AND BLOCK the doors and turn out the lights in each of the classrooms AND office as soon as gunfire is heard. A security door with a window near the handle is not a security door. An unarmed principal would have done more on the PA system to alert everyone rather than try to stop a shooter armed with an AR-15 with his bare hands.

Portland: Do not prevent CCW permit holders from carrying inside the mall or advertise that you are doing so.

Aurora: Do not prevent CCW permit holders from carrying inside the theater or advertise that you are doing so.

None will work, Social Change is the ONLY thing that will.
Even if we were to adapt a Soviet Union Style dictatorship, it still would not work, The only Thing is for people to Return to Biblical Values , the ones before Madeline Murrya O'Hare took out of schools.

You want a solution? There it is.
I can remember a Time before that, and it was much nicer, less violence, people were more kind to each other for the most part at least far more than compare to now.
