When did people lose their basic conversation skills?

Lately I've been talking to a lot of old friends. You know those people that have been friends with you on Fb for years and you haven't talked to them. It all started when I saw a high school friend on the street. We talked a little. Just pleasantries. So I started talking to old friends on Fb when they were logged in.

After talking to 4 I gave up. It was impossible. They couldn't even hold a basic conversation. I ask: "So how was new years eve?". Their answer: "It was nice". And that was the way those conversations went. They ask me nothing, they give no information that I can respond to. I'm like what the hell. When did people forget to hold a regular conversation? We were friends years ago and then we could talk, but now...Have you experience with people like this?

It all started with MySpace...then the cycle continued with Facebook, then Twitter, then Mocospace, Tumblr, Instagram technology is dumbing us down a notch people have seemed to have forgotten there's a thing called real life!

Ive met old aquiantances like that before, I think since along time has passed probably they aint got much to say anymore or they are shy. I am shy but once people start conversing with me I respond well back. If theres someone who only says one word to me I respond one word back.

I know what you mean. I'm also just as confuse too. What I do is, as a joke, try typing," that was a great response". If you don't receive anything back then forget about them. Wanna be my fb buddy? I'll reply back only if you do. lol. But on the reals tough, If you wanna then P.M. me.
