How can I promote a website?

My friend is building a website and she just hired me to help promote it. But I'm not sure how to. Can anyone help? And please follow her Twitter! I get paid 5 cents per follower I gain for her!

I would def make a Facebook page for it. The more people that 'like's it' the more viewers it will get! Everyone has a Facebook.

Firstly, make sure your friend has included good keywords for the site, has a xml sitemap and registered the site in Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools.

Secondly, write articles (not an advertisement) about the niche of the website and submit them to article directories with a link to the website in the articles signature. Participate in appropriate forums with a link to the website in your forum's signature.

Is there a form for website viewers to signup for a newsletter? This should be a double optin signup via an autoresponder so you can broadcast regular newsletters.

These are just so basic procedures.
