Millions of people use facebook, so its a good place to stick an ad.

Corporations pay top dollar for that.

Through Facebook Ad's that mostly appears on the right hand side when you login. Facebook Advertisers get to promote their website or page by paying per click. The cost per click also various by country. i.e. A click from USA would cost the advertiser more than the one from say Indonesia.
