Is it safe to give your email adress information on Iphone and Ipod Touch INSTANT MESSENGER applications?
Like for example, Web Messenger, IM Lite, AOL, Facebook, etc. Are these safe to give your account infromation too? Or will they take it and send you viruses and hack into it and take it?

If you know the person, you're fine. But I would NEVER give your account information out to anyone - friend or otherwise.
My company just switched to a secure instant messenger called Brosix. We had to switch for security purposes - competitors were impersonating employees and asking for sensitive documents. It all started because one of the employees shared too much account information. As far as viruses are concerned, you're pretty safe with Apple stuff. At least for now. As a rule of thumb, you should only by IM'ing someone you know. If you trust them, go ahead and connect. But never share your account information like logins and passwords. Have fun! |
