I am doing a paper that is on social networking and social media. I was wondering what percent of the internet is social media ?

Wrong question: Not a lot of the Internet is social media, but a lot of Internet traffic is from social media.

Explanation: one video streamed from youtube is equivalent to thousands and thousands of facebook messages.... So in percent of weight, size, the internet is mostly medias (videos, images, etc). The traffic is another thing completely.

I think that nowadays about 45 percent of the Internet is made up of Social Media. It's so as Social Media is made up of many types of websites.
