Why would my Facebook show me someone I might know if we have no mutual friends?
I have a public and a private FB account and to be honest, I'm a bit of a novice. I got a notification that I might know somebody on my private account that I'd rather not know of my private account. My private account doesn't have my name for him to search me on and I've never used the find my friends from my contacts on that account. How would it show him as someone I might know?

Well, you may have some interests that are similar or you may have gone to an event or go to school or work some time? those are what facebook add into consideration when doing "someone you might know"

It could be based on your location, your interests, your job, or any other factors.

They could live near you, like the same things, have the same or a similar job, etc.

There might be something common between you and the other person i.e PLACE OF WORK, SCHOOL/COLLEGE, LIKES, CURRENT LOCATION, HOMETOWN, etc..... Sometimes it also shows people who are in the same locations as your friends......

All it is, is a friend suggestion of people you may know.

Its based on pretty much your whole facebook account, such as your likes, interests, etc.
this doesnt mean they can access your account in any way though, just that you can see theirs as they do not have a private account. |
