I am glad that they didn't. I dont trust Republicans to do anything. Especially gamble with my meager future social security checks..

If we would have done that the market may have not come down like it did. The reason billions of dollars that would have been injected into the market. Stock prices would have skyrocketed.

actually yes. but not because of the idea itself. this would have at least forced congress (that is BOTH sides of the aisle) to provide actual funding for our social security accounts, and it would have moved them into a place where they couldn't put their greedy little hands on them. investing them in the stock market? perhaps too risky, and needs to be a choice, not forced. but investing them in fixed income, or whatever, means the money we paid into social security stays ours. that is a great concept. too bad i won't see any of my social security funds when i retire.
