Why would Republicans want Social Security check to go out when SS is a social program?

Look Pal I'm self employed I must pay in over 15% on the first dollar I make as I pay both the employee and employer share I had better live till I'm 120 to recover my money

There was no federal guaranteed return on 401(k)'s. Social Security is backed by the feds in much the same manner as FDIC protects bank deposits. You're not comparing apples and oranges, you're comparing apples and coffee cups.
