Are online courses over looked or are they just the same?

Good morning, Nicolee. I'm Tee and I am a Social Media moderator at the American Public University System. The worth of an online degree is a continuing debate, but from this recent article from BrainTrack.com, a study showed that "...more than half of the respondents indicated that it made no difference whether a graduate earned his degree online or on a college campus. What are most important to employers, the study found, are the quality of the education and the reputation of the institution itself." Take a look at that article (cited below). It's a great read.

It can be overwhelming to try and make the right decision on an online school, particularly when opinions are polarized about the credibility of an online degree. Something to look for in online universities is whether or not the school is accredited. The accreditation process varies from region to region, but these are standards institutions should be meeting in order to give educators' degrees and certifications legitimacy. Then look at the affordability of the school and consider if the degree is within your budget. Finally, look at the classes and fields of study offered. Does the school have the degree you are looking for? It may sound like a long process but those few minutes of research are an investment in you and your college education, and shouldn't be taken lightly.

No two online universities are the same, but so long as accreditation and quality of courses offered are present, the end result of how good a degree is rests on the student and how serious they take the opportunity to earn a degree.

If you have any questions concerning an online degree or want to take a closer look at APUS (an accredited institution), please pay us a visit on Facebook. We would love to talk to you further about what we offer.

I hope this answer helps you out.
