Facebook and Instagram randomly asking for ID?

The email confirmation takes up to 24 hours to be sent to you.... then Facebook has to verify the id and what have you which could take up to a few days. Hang in there... they will get to it.... this usually happens when your account has undergone suspicious activity, spamming, viruses,possible hacking, violating rules etc

Don't worry- people won't let this pass. This happened to me too. People are going to get pissed at Facebook, and force them to stop. Just until then, sit tight.

YES! same thing has happen to me. Can not get on either FB or Instagram - it's been 2 days. I've sent numerous emails and will continue sending emails. Cause I don't think we should send DL photo....even if everything is blocked out. I think they should be able to tell that we are logging on from the same computer and that should be enough.

I am really unpset about facebook blocking me and asking me for government issued ID. My bank does not even do that, what gives them the right. I have lots of pics and friends I never really post anything but I love to see what everybody is up too. It is like I lost a whole bunch of friends. I have e-mailed them serveral times and gotton only gerneric responses back. We live in the USA not some third world country.

Well I did send my DL and my account is still froze...I am with you all I believe this is ridiculous.

The EXACT same thing is happening to me and TONS of other people, we're not alone.
I submitted my passport photo to facebook and I'm waiting for the email, that's all I'm worried about. That they won't email me back within the few days.
For facebook this has been an issue going on for a couple years but for instagram, it's pretty recent and I'm going to wait to turn in my ID for them, tons of people are complaining and they better do something about it


OKAY! I finally sent it to Instagram and the next morning (This morning) They sent me an email saying that they confirmed my identity and I have my instagram account back. It all depends on how long it takes..I'm still waiting for my facebook

I've been logged out for approx. 3 days now
Thought it was a scam (felt like one) but now I'm convinced they are just trying to track down underage users. Hence suspending suspicious accounts. Unlike other known cases where underage daughters' or sons' account were suspended. I'm way over 13 years old and I registered with my legit D.O.B which is > 18 so I'm not too sure why Facebook secured my account. Anyways, I just submitted my DL showing only my name and DOB. Hope things clear up. I'm still pissed not because my account is secured but Facebook/Instagram not providing heads up nor clarification till 3 days later? Good luck everyone.

Submitted my ID (only showing my name and date of birth) to facebook and instagram on jan 22.2013
Instagram replied Jan 24 2013 saying my account is cleared and active. Just logged in, everything works fine!
Still waiting for facebook. So this proves... they are indeed targeting underage users.

Ya its really irritating. I cant access either accounts at all. How old are you guys maybe its just doing it to young people who they think aren't old enough to have one??

I have been locked out of both Facebook and Instagram since Sunday and it is driving me crazy. I provided my ID, reluctantly I might add and I still haven't heard anything. It is quite frustrating because both are a regular staple in my daily life.

And me. I'm not under age! Over 30!! Both Ig and fb since Sunday. Have waited patiently and reluctantly sent in my id yesterday.
Weird thing is I got 3 fb email notifications yesterday of my lovely friends posting on my wall!! Cheers. Well funny, can't see, can't answer, can't delete.
It's well out of order. Been in fb 7 years and Ig 2.
Sort it out. Please.....
