Long distance boyfriend, should i trust him?

Trust him until he gives you a reason not to. Be careful with online dating though, I had a 16 year old boyfriend when I was 15 and we kept the relationship going for two years with the promise he'd come and meet me after he's done with college. I was willing to wait.
He wouldn't phone me with the excuse that he had a stutter and he was self concious about it. He wouldn't go on webcam because he said he didn't have one, but upon signing into msn one time I saw the webcam symbol proving he did, and when I asked him about it he lied and said he had no idea what could of caused it because he doesn't. I believed he was genuine because I was being sent pictures with my name on a piece of paper infront of the guy, I was too stupid to realise you can edit pictures to look that realistic using photoshop. Anyway, it turned out to be a girl who was the same age as me. I felt sick and very hurt, it felt as though I'd loved someone who never existed and just like that one day he disappeared. It was confusing. Please learn from my mistake.
