For example, none of the friends I invited to come to a movie with me even responded to the event I posted on fb. It makes me feel like my friends are all fake. This type of disappointment can easily make one depressed.

facebook is just lame. I hardly ever use it. It sucks up my time and usually people just use facebook to spy on each other. My advice is to keep your account but don't go on there much. Try and do other things non computer related and you will feel better. I even limit my time on YA to once a week. It is fun for a short time but prolong use is bad.

And how is that Facebook's fault? Communications 101, when you send an invite is always a good idea to follow up by sending a reminder.
Stop feeling sorry for yourself, gosh!

If they are your good friends, then why do you have to create an event, why don't call them instead.
There may b possibility that you might have made some mistake while creating the event.

It seems like we log on to these social sites and are drawn to #1 graphics. So many things to looks at, links, thoughts, moods, games add up to one huge distraction. We get lost in it all and barely read what our friends have to say. Dont get me wrong, I do know how you feel.

Your friends aren't fake but our Facebook pages sure are.
