How do I deactivate my Facebook account?
EDIT: If I decide to activate it again in the future, will I be able to?
EDIT 2: Also, if I'm able to activate it again, will all my friends still be on my list?

Account Settings > Security > Deactivate your Account (its a small link underneath the main section there). You get to account settings by pressing the gear over by where your name is in the toolbar.

you can reactivate it by logging back in and all you friends will be saved. I did it once
