Accidentally clicked on a pornography link at school?
Today at school I was using their WIFI and I accidentally clicked onto a pornography link. It WAS a PURE accident. I wasn't paying attention to what I clicked on (I clicked it too fast). Is there any way they can look up the search history and see that? I don't want to get into any trouble for it. Since it's wifi, I don't see how they can, unless my personal information is in my MAC address or it's on my phone settings. Thanks.

They actually can look it up through an IP address however they usually don't. Most schools have firewalls up for blocked sites so if you got through to the site, it wasn't blocked. They dont just read through the sites you go on so dont stress!!

If your school I like mine they can access any personal device you own that is on school property. With or without wifi, it doesn't matter. I don't think you're gonna get in trouble. Just tell them it was a pure accident if they talk to you.

I can't see why they would just look through your history. If they do find out say you left your computer unattended and another pupil must have done it.

It depends on both the settings on your electronic device and the settings of the school wifi. They probably can, but they'd have to look through your history specifically. You're probably fine.

All porn should be restricted in schools did you in some way evade this if so they will find out, if it is not blocked then their IT dept should be informed.

They can view everything that was ever searched or clicked upon because they own the WIFI (correct me if I'm wrong). I think you would do well to admit to what happened and explain thoroughly how it was a mistake. They would be more likely to believe you in such a circumstance than if you simply waited for them to find out on their own.

you have nothing to worry about but the IT administrator is obviously not doing his job if a porn link is able to get past the filter

Don't worry about it Andy, When I Was in 7th grade my friends used to watch porn in computer class and our teacher was to busy to realize what we were doing. So I'm 95% sure nothing will happen! I mean schools have up to 500 kids right? I'm sure that out of all the kids in school you won't get in trouble! It's not likely.

If your at a public school and used one of the school computers and have your own school account then yes they can. At my old school somebody would look at porn on the school computers and he never got caught. If you were using your own computer then they can't. Also they very rarely look at the history of a student. And most likely there would be a filter.
