maybe it means the past relationships hes been in in the past will not loose respect but he knows he will stop and think about you or a present relationship very often and he will always love you more than his past relationships.

the lyrics are from the Beatle's "In My Life" - one of my favorites - basically, it's someone saying they greatly value their past, but if all the experiences they've had before, their new one is the best they've ever had (i.e. a new relationship puts their past to shame)
