Tell your mom that you don't want the world to know who you are. Posting too many pictures could be dangerous since pedophiles do troll the Facebook pages of young people. You many not even post "sexy" pictures, but to a pervert, that doesn't matter. I know this sounds paranoid, but, sorry to say, it does happen.
Have your mom read the article I reference. Hopefully, she will come to understand. The article mainly talks about much younger children, but it happens with teens, too. Also, check out some other articles that tell you how Facebook and Instagram can make money off of your pictures and comments. The entire blog has some very useful information. |

Ah, geez, moms have this stupid idea that teenagers are still sweet, compliant children and integral parts of the family. Keep the peace by opening a second Facebook account for the family where you can post everything "family" and that will keep your mom believing that you're still her good - and obedient - child:-)

I can't believe that an adult (and a Top Contributor at that!!!) would tell you to lie to your mom by making another Facebook page just to fool her into thinking you're being obedient!
If you do that, then when your mom finds out (and she WILL find out), she will lose all trust in you. It takes a long time to regain trust. Think before you do take that awful advice. For the record, I read the article that Michael asked you to look at. It really may help your mom understand your position. |
