What's the deal with people with massive buddylists on Facebook, Twitter etc...?
Sometimes I'll see people I know on Facebook with HUNDREDS of people on their list of friends. It'll make me feel lonely and kinda loser-ish. It's insane how some people have like 700 people on their buddy lists, and it's like, I doubt I've even met that many people in my whole life!

How is it even possible to have THAT many friends?! Where would you find the time for all the bastards? Perhaps it's just that 'friend' is a word that's thrown around a lot. Maybe A lot of these people are more so acquaintanceses?

Don't be sad! I never met someone who was actually a social person who was always on "social networking sites" like facebook and twitter. They should call them "Anti-social" websites because what they really do is encourage people to SIT on their butt on their computer at home and have no friends and no life. You you can be 100% SURE that the bigger the "buddy" list is, the less of a life that person has.

Unless the person is some celebrity or someone with a popular website, no one person has all day to talk to all those "friends" even if they had no job and sat home all day. Many of the people with a huge buddy list also are sometimes people who make youtube videos. These people DO have a life. They also have a fan base and though it might be small, it is enough to get a few hundred people. When you consider the MILLIONS of people on earth, it's actually not hard to do!

So don't feel bad. You are not unpopular or some lesser person just because you have less fake friends who never met you. If you really want fake friends, make some pointless videos about your shopping trips, your hair and makeup or your opinion on some TV show, or how-to videos on baking cakes or doing crafts. You will get some people who are into this, no matter how obscure you think your hobby is. Then make a facebook or twitter and FRIEND THEM ALL!

People do this all the time. Really it's not as big of a deal as you might think. People have interests and so do you. If people are looking up a subject, they run into people who share that interest. I am sure MOST of these people with 700 "buddies" have never even met the people and might not know who the person is. They just know that person likes cats, horses, aliens, sewing, Twilight, baking, doll making, drawing, movies or whatever other crazy subjects people are into on this planet. I hope this answers your question. Good luck!
