How can I have my facebook relationship status on "About" only?

I have "in a relationship" listed on Facebook, but it shows up on my Timeline really big (not the status update, but permanently on the left-hand side underneath my profile picture). How can I remove this so that it's only on the "about" page if people look for it?

You can't.

What you can do is to set the privacy of it - for example set it to "Only me" or some friends. That way it will be visible to only those people, both in the About section and on the timeline.
