Do you think social media has messed up communication?
With texting and phones its good. I dont know a life without them. They help(ed) people stay in contact and usually it was very personal.

But ive noticed as the popularity of social media has increase, "real" people have decrease.

i remember in my grade school years i always had someone to hang out with on the weekends and we'd go do stuff. In middle school i had myspace but most people only used it at night and still had communication.

My freshman and sophomore year i had facebook and most people just used it to keep in touch with people they knew. It was kinda cool because if you were in that awkward zone with a person (girl/Boy) where you knew each other but not well enough to trade numbers, you could friend them on there and keep in contact that way. It was also good for giving people a LITTLE insight into your life.

since my junior year heres what ive noticed. When social media got more popular it was harder for me to keep in touch with people. i lost contact with friends. I didnt use facebook a lot and most conversation for like "did you see what i put on facebook" or something.

Even today people who have my cell phone number will send me a message on facebook. Why? I have no idea. i guess theyre just used to this communication lapse.

Or maybe its just me and im blaming facebook. idk but what do you think
i see that too. Most People find it weird if you say hi in person but if you say hi on facebook its much less strange

well i definitely think social media and technology has replaced human contact in a way. i mean, children nowadays are spending all of their time on line or playing video games. wtf ever happened to playing outside?? i remember a time before everyone had cell phones and computers in their houses, it was definitely a much more innocent time. nowadays, people barely know how to act in public because they're so used to being behind a screen.

Hmm, everything up to the freshman/sophmore year bit I agree with, but what you've found since your junior year hasn't been the case (for me at least). I don't think social media has ruined communication, but it has definitely changed it - but I don't think it's done so in a 'bad' way - for me it makes it way easier to catch up with people who's phone numbers I don't have, keep up with events and what people have been up to, and keep in touch with my overseas friends, I still text lots, although I definitely don't call people that often (but I never really have).
