Why do MORE people vote for Democrats?

I identified myself as a Libertarian, which means I'm socially Democrat but economically Republican (don't attack my belief please). I love all the social things Democrats have done, such as legalization gay marriage, marijuana (California), and abortion. I believe in freedom, so I think that people should have the rights to choose the lifestyle they want. However, I completely disagree with the Democrat's economic agenda, which is to raise tax and create a fair wealth distribution (aka socialism). If you have any knowledge of economics, you will know that a high tax rate eliminates business growth, which will eventually increase unemployment. Even though the government can generate more money through taxation in the short run, the economy will decline in the long term, especially for the small business. Also, if government generates money from taxation and spends it, then this practice is no different than communism (government elimination of free-market). Also, high tax rate can almost kill the taxpayers, especially the lower middle class families, which compose of the majority of American families. Yet, these money are spent on food stamps to some who are not even bothered to find a job. I think welfare is a great program for people who really need it. However, it has been completely abused by some who don't even try to get a job. Why bother to work if the government can just feed you? Because of this, it will encourage more and more people to join the welfare program and the economy will just spiral down even more.
Anyway, isn't politics more about economy and money instead of social issues? Even though the majority of Americans agree on the legalization of gay marriage, abortion, and marijuana, it doesn't mean that Democrats are good at dealing with the economy. If so, why are there still more people who vote for Democrats than Republicans? Since Middle Class composes the largest portion of American population, don't they know that voting for Democrats can destroy them financially?

Actually the economy always does better under Democratic presidents (look it up).

You do know there are different economic theories, right? The one pushed most often by the right is trickle-down economics, which takes from the middle class to give to the rich. Trickle-down economics has never worked and will never work. Even daddy Bush called it “voodoo economics.”

Democrats, on the other hand, generally believe in buttressing the middle class because that is the engine that drives our society. The rich do not always put their money back into the market--they often stash it in off-shore or Swiss bank accounts. The middle class, on the other hand, always spends their money, which pumps up the economy.

Both parties redistribute wealth. The Repubs take from the middle class and give to the wealthy (as Bush did for eight years, with the results we saw in 2008) and the Dems take from the very wealthy and give to the middle class. I guess you have to decide which one of those theories benefits you.

My guess would be that the middle and lower classes combined make up more voters than upper class, and Democrats campaign on bringing these people up.

Re-election chances for many of Obama's supportive Democrats are looking glaringly slim. My state's DEMOCRAT Congresspeople will NOT be getting my vote--and they damn well know why, too.

Don't buy into the DEMOCRATS who say they're "distancing" away from Obama---until they publicly RENOUNCE THEIR DEMOCRAT MEMBERSHIP AND JOIN THE GOP.

If they support Obama---the DEMOCRATS must be voted out!!

The Socialist ideology is a theory , fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and which holds forth beliefs that have no basis in reality. Under socialism, incentives either play a minimal role or are ignored totally. A centrally planned economy without market prices or profits, where property is owned by the state, is a system without an effective incentive mechanism to direct economic activity. By failing to emphasize incentives, socialism is a theory inconsistent with human nature and is therefore doomed to fail. Socialism is based on the theory that incentives don't matter!
