Need help with Startup repair for windows7?

This happened to me after Windows automatically ran a bunch of security updates. I have Windows 7 on a HP Pavilion DV6. I couldn't get it to reconcile anything either, so i shut down my laptop and restarted it, and it ran normally as though nothing had happened. I guess it is a bug in the update process?
