Do you feel like this generation is wasting their lives?
I feel like technology and social media are taking control over the world which is depriving people of what really matters in life. The majority of this generation (mostly 12-25 year olds) believe that life is about getting a certain number of likes on an Instagram picture or getting the most followers on twitter. I feel like people are slowly forgetting that there is more to life than electronics, and as the years go by and more technology comes out this will just become worse. Life is about learning, exploring the world we were given, and discovering ourselves but now thanks too Instagram and facebook, people are too ignorant to look up from their phones and see the true beauty in life. Kids complain about learning things in school that "won't ever matter in their lives" but they don't realize that it's still important to know things about the world whether or not they will ever use it. Instead of studying kids spend time on Facebook and blame "society" for their grades. Who agrees?

I think the older generation forgets some of the crazy things we did to get attention. This generation is just as degenerative as the previous and before that. Only difference is the societal tools at their disposal. In the end, it's the same equation: you're young, you want to be liked and fit in, maybe get a crush, get a little wasted, do some stupid things.

Whether it was in the back of '59 Chevy or at the keyboard of a tablet, youngens will be young and dumb.

This started with the TV babies who grew up watching endless hours of it.My generation watched some cartoons Saturday morning, maybe just a show or 2 ,but nobody had the set on constantly. We played outside.Next came the PS2 thumb twiddling generation of potentially unemployables ,followed by the pierced face generation, the texters and now the "smart"phone generation. The parents are ultimately responsible. It represents the de-evolution of humanity...

I could not agree more. I hate most aspects of social media and the way it has transformed humanity. I'm glad that someone else feels this way. Life is about experiencing the true beauty of nature surrounding us, going on adventures, discovering things for ourselves! However, everyone takes this for granted and instead wastes their lives away with their phones, iPads, etc. Just look up and see whats around you and how lucky you are to be alive! I could go on for hours with this...

You, my friend, are awesome.

Humans: Survival of the Weakest.

If you gave a kid a cardboard box today and said, "Here, go play!" the likely response would be, more or less, "What the hell am I supposed to do with a box? Are you serious?" Nobody values the ability to entertain oneself.

And that thought makes me sorry for the generations after mine. If you take away all of your toys, gadgets, luxuries and all else.... what are you left with? For many people, it seems: Nothing. Nothing that matters, anyway.
